"Champ"

2005 AQHA Perlino Stallion

94.53% FQHR

HERDA N/N, GBED N/N

Homozygous Black

Champ is an own son of Definitely A Dunnit. His full brother, Dun Faded My Genes has an AQHA Performance ROM, placed 8th in AQHA World Show in Jr Tie Down Roping, was the 2006 WFQHA World Champion Versatilty Horse and was the first perlino to compete at an AQHA World Show. Champ is in training for Ranch Horse Versatility and will be shown FQHR ARHA and NVRHA in 2010.

Champ is Davis tested Homozygous Black (EE), Homozygous Crème (CrCr), and heterozygous Agouti (Aa) so therefore is a perlino. His body color is a very pale crème, his mane, tail and lower legs are gold. His eyes are a bluish green. Not only is he an unusual and beautiful color, he has the best disposition of any stallion I have ever known. He is quiet, easy to handle and eager to please.

Champ can not produce sorrel, bay, or palomino foals regardless of the color of any mare. All of his foals will carry the black gene and have dark or black points. All of his foals will also carry the crème gene. His foals will not have blue eyes unless they are a perlino or the mare carries a gene to produce blue eyes. We can offer color prediction for mares bred to Champ or you can calculate it for yourself by going to this link:

      http://www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1.asp

Use Perlino, Homozygous Black and Heterozygous Agouti for the sire information.

We only used Champ on a couple of our own mares in 2008 and are very pleased with his first foals.  Breeding is by AI or shipped semen only. Sorry, we can not offer live cover or breeding at the farm. See Breeding information below pedigree for more information.

"Champ"s original registered name was Dun a Poco Champ. In 2007, I had to make some tough decisions. A voice kept telling me, 'just do it and have faith', so I'm doing it. I'm moving on and because Champ is helping to carry me on this journey I changed his name to be a constant reminder, to....

just "du it"

The Warmth Of A Horse

When your day seems out of balance and so many things go wrong ...
When people fight around you and the clock drags on so long ...
When some folks act like children and fill you with remorse ...
Go out into your pasture and wrap your arms around your horse.

His gentle breath enfolds you as he watches with those eyes ...
He may not have a PhD but oh, he is so wise!
His head rests on your shoulder, you hug him good and tight ...
He puts your world in balance and makes it seem all right.

Your tears will soon stop flowing, the tension will be eased ...
The nonsense has been lifted. You are quiet and at peace.
So when you need some balance from the stresses in your day ...
The therapy you really need is out there eating hay!
