Champ is an own son of Definitely A Dunnit. His full brother, Dun Faded My Genes has an AQHA Performance ROM, placed 8th in AQHA World Show in Jr Tie Down Roping, was the 2006 WFQHA World Champion Versatilty Horse and was the first perlino to compete at an AQHA World Show.

Champ tested Homozygous Black (EE), Homozygous Crème (CrCr), and heterozygous Agouti (aAt) The At (pronounced "A sub t") is a gene not specified by Davis. At is a gene that modifies black into brown, similar to the way A-agouti limits black to the points in bay horses. Champ's body color is a dark ivory, his mane, tail and lower legs are gold. He almost looks like am amber champagne, but does not carry the champagne gene. He is registered as a perlino, but is probably closer to a smokey cream. His eyes are a bluish green. Not only is he an unusual and beautiful color, he has the best disposition of any stallion I have ever known. He is quiet, easy to handle and eager to please.

Champ can not produce sorrel, bay, or palomino foals regardless of the color of any mare. All of his foals will carry the black gene and have dark or black points. All of his foals will also carry the crème gene. His foals will not have blue eyes unless they are a perlino or the mare carries a gene to produce blue eyes.

We only used Champ on a couple of our own mares in 2008 and were very pleased with his first foal crop. The 2010 foals are even better. I have decided not to stand Champ to the public in 2010 so I can devote this entire season to training. I will be having him collected and freezing the semen for use on my own mares. If there is any surplus, I may offer it to the public.

"Champ"s original registered name was Dun a Poco Champ. In 2007, I had to make some tough decisions. A voice kept telling me, 'just do it and have faith', so I'm doing it. I'm moving on and because Champ is helping to carry me on this journey I changed his name to be a constant reminder, to....

just "du it"

The Warmth Of A Horse

When your day seems out of balance and so many things go wrong ...
When people fight around you and the clock drags on so long ...
When some folks act like children and fill you with remorse ...
Go out into your pasture and wrap your arms around your horse.

His gentle breath enfolds you as he watches with those eyes ...
He may not have a PhD but oh, he is so wise!
His head rests on your shoulder, you hug him good and tight ...
He puts your world in balance and makes it seem all right.

Your tears will soon stop flowing, the tension will be eased ...
The nonsense has been lifted. You are quiet and at peace.
So when you need some balance from the stresses in your day ...
The therapy you really need is out there eating hay!
